Before The Coffee » Photography

Walk away if you want to
it’s ok, if you need to
you can run, but you can never hide
From the shadow that’s creeping up beside you
There’s a magic running through your soul
But you can’t have it all

(Whatever you do)
I’ll be two steps behind you
(Wherever you go)
and I’ll be there to remind you
that it only takes a minute of your precious time
to turn around and I’ll be two steps behind.

This is really a lovely image. I like how the tree foliage all merges together into sort of a dream like effect. Now I have to say it does not conjure up Def Leppard music to me, but hey it is your image.

    Well done.ReplyCancel

Some trees have nice lines, this Mimosa tree along the Chesapeake Bay caught my eye with its red blooms.

Ferrell, was this a long exposure? The sky is wonderful along with the rest of your image.ReplyCancel

Hi David, It does look like a long exposure but it’s actually a texture added. The texture is a pic of ripples in water reflecting the blue sky, I rotated the texture 180 deg and added it to the image.ReplyCancel

When babies are awake they are busy absorbing the world around them.  When they sleep they melt into a deep sleep, shutting out the activities of the world.  Moms use this time to catch up on the work neglected in the home and photographers work fast to capture the possibilities of a fully relaxed baby. Both of these pictures were taken using window light as the main light on the baby. Soft window light wraps around babies giving an angelic low contrast image. I used a flash placed behind the tree stump to light up the paper background. The tree branch is a shot taken of a plum tree in my back yard, look carefully, it was raining and you can see water drops on the leaves. In these pictures, Riley is only 4 days old, she was a prefect model.

I just have to introduce you to the most beautiful little baby to come into the world. Her name is Riley. Of course she arrived crying then shortly after everyone in the room was crying. It’s the first time I held a camera and shot with tears in my eyes. Wow what an event. If you’re pregnant I’d be glad to shoot your delivery and I’ll even cut the umbilical cord after the daddy faints.

This comment is not about photography although thats how I got here as I do admire Ferrell’s work. I am a grandad of a 12 month little princess named Jasmine and when I saw this post it reminded me how fast they will grow. These gifts of life are so precious that there is always tears of joy when we are with them.

These photographs are full of strength, joy….
It seems there are 2 main things in photography : technique (I include artistic intuition and skill in the word) and opportunity.

You had (have) both of it.

It would be so ‘interesting’ to have images of elderly persons in a hospital… I have one by my house but I never dared…

    sincerely yoursReplyCancel
