Sleeping Baby Photography

When babies are awake they are busy absorbing the world around them.  When they sleep they melt into a deep sleep, shutting out the activities of the world.  Moms use this time to catch up on the work neglected in the home and photographers work fast to capture the possibilities of a fully relaxed baby. Both of these pictures were taken using window light as the main light on the baby. Soft window light wraps around babies giving an angelic low contrast image. I used a flash placed behind the tree stump to light up the paper background. The tree branch is a shot taken of a plum tree in my back yard, look carefully, it was raining and you can see water drops on the leaves. In these pictures, Riley is only 4 days old, she was a prefect model.
