I went to a park and was standing there taking some shots of Boston and a security guard walks up and says I have to register with the park to take a picture from there. WHAT?? Then he says, “if it’s for professional use you can’t take the picture because a professional already took the picture of Boston from there and they have a copyright on it so you can’t sell your’s.” WHAT??? So I’m cracking up inside and I say “well, can I stand over here and take the picture (pointing)?” He thinks about it and says “yea, I guess that wouldn’t be a problem, but you need to register if you want to sell the picture.” No problem Mr. Security.
There are often restrictions on indoor photography in the UK but you don’t usually get pulled up for taking photos outdoors.
Interesting, Is this a public or private park? If it is public park there is no restriction on photographs. I have had a simlar thing happen to me at a city fair. Later that evening the chairman of the event apologized to me about the conduct of his workers to me. In public everthing is fair game even the photographing of private property from a public place.
What is the name of the park?
